Ziya ("Z") Altug, PT, DPT, MS, OCS, CSCS is a board-certified orthopedic clinical specialist, doctor of physical therapy, wellness consultant, and author. He currently provides private physical therapy services in Los Angeles.

Education

Ziya ("Z") Altug graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science degree in physical therapy and obtained his Master of Science degree in sport and exercise studies, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education from West Virginia University. He also completed a transitional doctorate degree in physical therapy (DPT) from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota, and is a long-standing member of the American Physical Therapy Association and California Physical Therapy Association. He is also a member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine and the International Association for the Study of Pain.


Certifications

Ziya ("Z") Altug is a Board-Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist from the American Physical Therapy Association. He is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a certified strength and conditioning specialist. Additionally, he was certified by USA Track & Field as a level 1 coach and by USA Weightlifting as a level 1 sport performance coach. He also has completed workshops and classes in yoga, Tai Chi, Qigong, the Pilates method, the Feldenkrais Method, and the Alexander Technique to further expand his knowledge of body movement.

Awards

Ziya ("Z") Altug received the 2018 Clinician Non-Research Publication Award from the California Physical Therapy Association for his book, Integrative Healing: Developing Wellness in the Mind and Body (Cedar Fort, Inc.).

He also received the 2015 Clinician Non-Research Publication Award from the California Physical Therapy Association for the article "Resistance Exercise to Improve Cognitive Function." Strength and Conditioning Journal, 36(6):46-50.
